This is the marimba I have been playing for about the last two years. It is made by Matt Coe, of Coe Percussion in Florida. It is a beautiful looking and sounding marimba. It has a tubular metal frame like the older Deagan marimbas. It has composite (plastic) tubular resonators, with individually adjustable tuning stops through the entire 5.0 range. There is no loss of resonance when compared with brass or aluminum tubes. Perhaps more resonant. Certainly much lighter. I can lift the bottom resonator piece with two fingers, easily! The construction of the entire instrument is beautifully thought out and constructed.
The rosewood keyboard is based on the architecture of the Deagan King George marimba. The tuning is high quality.
The total weight of this marimba is 167 pounds.
You can always write me at gstout@ithaca.edu for more information or go to https://www.coepercussion.com/ for more information. He also makes marimbas with brass tubes, and custom orders, recently having completed a 6.0 octave instrument (with the extra octave on top like a marimba xylophone) , and a 5.0 where the top and bottom keyboard come apart for ease of moving in and out of small doors, without making anything apart!
Here are some pictures of my marimba in the shop in Tallahassee, FL, before it was finished and delivered to me.
